A world mourns
Shocking news waking up this morning that overzealous Australian naturalist, the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin has died. I almost didn’t believe the BBC, because quite famously about 4 years ago he was “eaten by a crocodile” according to rumours that shot around the internet, only for that to be revealed as a hoax.
But sadly, it looks like the real deal, and it says something about the guy that people are actually quite saddened by his death even though he was just a TV presenter – would Sir David Attenborough’s death meet with the same reaction, even if it was at the hands of a silver backed gorilla?
And of course with such a character, the comedy emails haven’t taken long to do the rounds…this one appeared in my inbox at just 12:20pm this afternoon..which I quite like:
Good on ya Stevo!
Oh jeez, don’t even joke about it. When Attenborough goes it’ll be like Diana all over again. Just imagine BBC1’s schedule being cleared for back-to-back Planet Earth in glorious HD showing you his every wrinkle.
