Interviewing soldiers in Iraq for both audio and video

Based in London I produce news and multimedia for a range of clients, including Feature Story News and the Big Issue. I have also been commissioned to produce video for businesses.

I am a part-time lecturer in video journalism at Kingston University in London, and I write regularly about the Future of Journalism, on my blog, as well as at Journalism.co.uk, Duckrabbit and A Developing Story.

I am the founder of the UK Future of News Group, a community of journalists, academics and entrepreneurs interested in the future of journalism.

Radio Career

Previously I have worked in radio for Bauer Radio, CN Radio and Absolute.

In 2009 I accompanied the last British troops serving in Iraq as they prepared for withdrawal, reporting from Baghdad and Basra. I produced content for radio as well as online video and audio slideshows.

I’ve  covered some of the biggest stories of the past three years, including the floods of 2007 (for which I was nominated for Newcomer of the Year in the Birmingham Press Club Awards), the Coventry Plane Crash, and the Atherstone Fire Tragedy (nominated for Radio Journalist of the Year 2008).

I trained at the prestigious City University in London, and I’ve interviewed government ministers, genocide survivors, ex-cons and premiership footballers.

“Every year you come across a student, who has lived many years past their own. One whose maturity seizing up the industry, as well as future casting offers food for thought.

They blog, twit, video – a veritable broadcast outfit in themselves…the next generation of meta-journalists.”

Sounds like I’m going to have to visit you for a cuppa and lectures. Inspiring! Yes the future is somewhat scary. Video journalism, you mentioned Rosenblum, will seize the day. But then we said that 12 years ago when we were being trained at Channel One TV, by of all people, Rosenblum. Maybe this time it’ll different. Keep up the blog. I’ll drop by.

Hi Adam, I’m on the Westminster PGDip course with Rachael Canter and David Heathfield, both of whom I think you’ve been in touch with. David tells me you are/will shortly be doing work experience at BBC Coventry and Warwick. I’ve applied for a placement there in January 2007, and although I haven’t heard back from them yet I’d be interested to know how you get on. Really enjoy reading the blog – it seems to be a big hit with people on my course.
